All of the K League 1 teams laughed at least once, breaking the worst-lowest ‘except Jeonbuk’

Eleven teams enjoyed victory at least once in the K-League 1 this season, which continued through five rounds. This means that the initial race for ranking is fierce.

However, there is only one team that failed to make people laugh by winning five games. Jeonbuk Hyundai, which once ruled as the absolute power of the K League 1 by establishing a dynasty, has not been able to escape the swamp by breaking the worst history it wrote last season from the beginning of this season.

Jeonbuk lost 0-2 against Jeju United in the fifth round of Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd at Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.

Due to this loss, Jeonbuk fell to the bottom of the standings with three draws and two losses. Among the 12 K-League 1 teams, Jeonbuk is the only team that has failed to secure a single win through the fifth round.

Jeonbuk is a prestigious team that has achieved nine league wins, the most ever among K League 1 teams. It even stood as a powerhouse in Korean professional football from 2017 to 2021, achieving the grand feat of “winning K League 1 for five consecutive seasons.” In the 2022 season, the team lost the league title to “Hyundai’s rival” Ulsan HD, but the fact that Jeonbuk will be in the top ranks remains the same.

However, Jeonbuk continued to slump in the early days of the 2023 season. Jeonbuk had the most losses in a single season by winning its fifth consecutive K-League 1 title between 2017 and 2021, with six losses in 38 games in 2021, before reaching six losses in 10 games in the 2023 season. Manager Kim Sang-sik had to endure and quit his position on May 4 last year after defeating Jeonbuk in the K-League 1 ranking with three wins, one draw, and six losses (10 points) in 10 games.

Later, current coach Dan Petrescu took over and raised the team’s ranking, but Jeonbuk failed to advance to the Asian Football Confederation Champions League Elite (ACLE), which was given up to the third place at the time, finishing the league in fourth place. This is the lowest record recorded by a Jeonbuk club in 15 years since it ranked fourth in the league in 2008. 밤알바

However, the team started this season worse than last season. In the 2023 season, when the team was showing the worst trend, it had one win (one draw and three losses) in the first five games, but failed to do so this year.

Jeonbuk has even encountered teams that were lower than themselves or promoted from the K-League 2 last year, including Hana Citizen in Daejeon, Jeju United, Suwon FC and Gimcheon Sangmu in the remaining four games except for last season’s showdown with the champion Ulsan. Nevertheless, the team has yet to secure one win.

Having enjoyed good performances at Cluj, a prestigious club in Romania, he took the helm of Jeonbuk during the last season with the confidence of Park Ji-sung, its technical director. However, he was quickly spotted by rival teams of the K-League through his blatant “long pass soccer” towards the front line striker and simple operation relying on the speed of his side resources. He has not been able to get out of the swamp of slump, as he has not shown much change in this season as he has led the team from the opening game.
