Son Heung-min (Tottenham)’s free kick goal in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup against Australia was nominated for the best goal of the tournament.

AFC has selected eight scenes that are remembered as the best goals out of a total of 132 goals from 51 matches on its official website on the 21st. The voting will be held on the AFC’s official website until 11 p.m. on the 25th, Korean time. The scene of Son Heung-min’s free-kick final goal against Australia was chosen as the Korean player.

Son’s performance in the match was remarkable. Son was trailing 0-1 in the second half, but dribbled without losing the ball near the penalty box surrounded by four defenders before tripping over an opponent’s tackle. It was the moment when he dramatically secured a penalty kick. Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton) scored the equalizer on the penalty kick, which led to an extended game.

In the 11th minute of the first half of extra time, Hwang Hee-chan won a free kick just outside the left penalty box. Son Heung-min scored a goal with a quick curl over the defensive wall to target the near post. It became a goal that led Korea to the semifinals of the tournament. 룸알바

Two scenes in which Korea scored a goal against Korea also made two candidates for the best goal. Faisal Halim of Malaysia scored a goal through a gap between goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo after beating Korea’s Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich) with a shooting fake in the final group match, and Moussa Altamari of Jordan, who dribbled about 50 meters in the semifinal, made a left-footed mid-range shot that made Korea’s dream to the finals.
