Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Lee Kang-in once again apologized for the incident in which he collided with Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur).

Lee Kang-in said on his Instagram on the 21st (Korea time), “At the last Asian Cup tournament, my short thoughts and rash actions caused great disappointment to Heung-min and the entire team and soccer fans.”

Britain’s “The Sun” said on the 14th, “Before South Korea’s shocking Asian Cup elimination, Son Heung-min had a physical fight with his teammate. Son Heung-min suffered a dislocated finger while arguing with his Korean national team teammate ahead of the Asian Cup semifinal.”

Korea was eliminated after losing 0-2 to Jordan in the semifinal match of the 2023 Asian Cup. Korea, which aimed to win the Asian Cup for the first time in 64 years, failed to advance to the final due to its defeat in the match against Jordan, ending the tournament. Korea suffered a complete defeat in the match against Jordan, after struggling to even record an effective shot.

Ahead of the semifinal match, however, rumors suggested that the national team, which should be assembled as a “one-team,” rebelled against the captain. The Sun said, “He had a fierce battle with his teammates, who were going to have dinner early to play table tennis. He got angry that some players left the dinner table early.”

Shockingly, it turned out that Lee Kang-in was the representative player who protested against Son. The Sun stated, “The young players on the national team were rushing to eat to play table tennis. Son was dissatisfied with the players who did not bond at the meal, and took issue with Lee Kang-in.”

“Some of the young players of the Korean national team went out to eat and play table tennis. He asked the player who spoke rudely to him to come back and sit down. He badly hurt his fingers while trying to calm everyone down. He had to play the game with two fingers of his right hand tied together,” he added.

An official from the Korea Football Association also admitted this. In a telephone interview with My Daily, an official from the Korea Football Association said, “As you know, it is all true that there are many articles already out there. In the Asian Cup, Son Heung-min admitted that he hurt his hand due to a collision with Lee Kang-in.”

Lee Kang-in said on his Instagram that day, “I thought it was important for Heung-min to visit his brother in person and apologize sincerely, and I had time to understand the weight of the team as captain and look back on myself through a long conversation.”

Lee Kang-in is also known to have met Son Heung-min in person. He said, “I would like to thank Heung-min again through this article for welcoming me and responding to me when I visited London. I knew with my head how desperate the competition was for Heung-min, but I think all the problems started in a part where I could not fully grasp the desperation with my heart and with my actions.”

“In particular, Heung-min did not listen to the advice he gave me as a captain and a team-mate and expressed only my opinion. I did something I should never have done at the dinner that day. Looking back now, it was something I should never have done. I deeply regret these points. Respect and dedication to the team are the most important things, but I lacked a lot,” he added.

Lee Kang-in also apologized to other teammates of the national team. He said, “I contacted each of the other seniors and colleagues of the national team and apologized. I deeply reflect on the lack of consideration and respect for my words and actions when dealing with my seniors and colleagues. I promised to have a more correct attitude and courtesy when dealing with my seniors and colleagues. I would like to thank my seniors and colleagues again through this article for accepting and embracing my apology.”  룸알바

As for the players who went to play table tennis together, he said, “There are some players who have been criticized together because of my actions. I think I should also receive criticism from them. I am sorry once again for disappointing soccer fans, away from the exemplary appearance and duty that I should have as a Korean national player despite receiving excessive expectations and support.”

Lastly, Lee Kang-in said, “It was an opportunity to feel that I was able to be in my position because of my seniors, colleagues, and many fans who have defended and shone in Korean soccer so far. I know that you are as disappointed as the love you have given me. I will become Lee Kang-in, who strives and dedicates more to development as another soccer player. I am sorry and grateful.”
