Players from 10 KBO League teams are sweating profusely through individual training ahead of the spring camp. For SSG Landers, several players, led by veteran duo Choo Shin-soo and Kim Kwang-hyun, will prepare for the 2024 season overseas.

First of all, pitcher Park Jong-hoon and outfielder Ha Jae-hoon will train together with Choo Shin-soo in Texas. Choo Shin-soo, who departed on the 4th, entered the U.S. before the other two players, while Park Jong-hoon and Ha Jae-hoon will depart on the 10th.

Players have to travel long distances in an airplane, but the training environment is better than in Korea. The players say that the training facilities at Choo’s Texas home are also excellent.

Park Jong-hoon, who chose to go to the U.S. again this year following last year, said, “First of all, I want to throw the ball in a warm place. When I visited Shin-soo’s house last year, I thought the preparation was really well done. The environment was great. There are many rooms and sports facilities such as a basketball court, a baseball field and a Pilates area,” when asked by reporters whether he would pay for boarding, he said, “I will cook and do laundry.”

It was Choo Shin-soo who suggested going to the U.S. first, not younger players. “When Shin-soo asked me to come to the U.S. in his first year (2021) and I said, ‘Okay, I’ll go,’ and I asked him, ‘Are you really going to come?’ and that’s how I was invited,” Park Jong-hoon said. “From Shin-soo’s point of view, rather than doing it alone, he can do it together and move on to Florida (where he is in the spring camp). Some parts require jet lag.”

“Captain” Choo Shin-soo, who is ending his career after the 2024 season, also enjoys working out with his juniors. “In the U.S., there is a limit to communicating in English, but I was able to laugh and talk with my players in Korean (after joining the KBO League). I felt that our players were younger than younger players even if they didn’t mix a drop of blood,” said Choo, who had to speak in English while living in other countries for a long time.

In Okinawa, Japan, pitchers who will take care of the future of the SSG mound will prepare for the 2024 season. Six pitchers, including Baek Seung-gun, Oh Won-seok, Shin Heon-min, Lee Ki-soon and Lee Eui-woo, will participate in the mini camp. Kim Kwang-hyun also set up a mini camp with four junior pitchers in the process of preparing for the 2023 season. The airfare is borne by each player, and all expenses for accommodation and food are up to Kim.

Kim Kwang-hyun said in a video released on the SSG club’s official YouTube on the 5th, “Baseball is not a sport that I play alone, so I went with them because I think it will increase my exercise efficiency if we gather together as a group,” adding, “Anyway, players are better if they train in a warm place, and if they exercise individually, they become a little lazy and often negotiate with themselves, so I think it will be my exercise if I go with my juniors and follow my juniors.” 랭크카지노주소

“I asked them to decide on their own since it’s an individual sport, and they said if they don’t want to come, they don’t have to come,” he added. “I’m not dragging them, but I gave them a thorough choice. Fortunately, they’re not uncomfortable. If they were uncomfortable, they wouldn’t have come. I asked them about three times, and they all said they wanted to come,” he added.
