Gray has officially signed with St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent Sonny Gray to a contract on Nov. 28. Gray officially donned a St. Louis uniform at his introductory press conference that day.

The deal is for three years and $75 million guaranteed, rising to four years and $100 million with options. The deal is guaranteed through the 2026 season, with a $30 million club option for 2027 ($5 million buyout).

“I’ve always wanted to play in St. Louis,” Gray said at his introductory press conference, according to MLB.com. “Every time I’ve been to Busch Stadium as an away player, I’ve thought it was a great place. I’ve seen how the fans in St. Louis support their team and I know what they want. And that’s what I want to do as a player,” said Gray. 보스토토

Gray was an ace for the Minnesota Twins this season. In 32 starts and 184 innings pitched, Gray went 8-8 with a 2.79 ERA. He finished second in American League Cy Young voting behind unanimous Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole (NYY).

St. Louis has one of the most storied franchises in baseball. What began as the St. Louis Browns in 1882 became the St. Louis Cardinals in 1900, and the name has stuck for more than a century. The team has won 11 World Series championships, second only to the New York Yankees (27).

According to MLB.com, Gray said, “No matter where I play, I want to win. I walked through this place today and saw the history. St. Louis is a baseball town, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Gray said, expressing his satisfaction with being a part of St. Louis.
