Protesting a strike call…LG Austin ejected

Austin Dean (29-LG) was ejected for protesting a strike call during the game.

Austin started at fourth and first base in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League home game against Kiwoom at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Nov. 11. The strange scene occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning with the score tied 3-3. On a one-ball, two-strike count, Austin saw a 149-kilometer-per-hour fastball to the body from Jang Jae-young.

The umpire called it a strike. Angered by the call, Austin immediately loudly protested to the umpire. When Austin refused to stop protesting, the umpire ordered him to leave the game. It was the 22nd ejection of the season. It is the 12th for a player.
